My relationship with yoga runs deeper than the asana (postures). Meditation, pranayama and mantra are tools I intend to instil in each and every class I teach. My relationship with music runs deeper than a likened sound. My mentor Emmanuelle Brown once told me that although traditional yoga and music don’t mix – a perfect playlist can assist students in sinking deeper into their practice, making each class a journey and a chance for true immersion. I begin each playlist of mine with soft melodic tunes often by a few of my faves Terry Oldfield and Sorya, Sacred Earth and Stevin Mcnamara. Gradually the music becomes loud and lively as we delve into surya namaskar and strength postures and finishes with soft mantras, or tunes with minimal words allowing students to switch off, reflect and chant for self-healing.
I am often asked by my devine students what songs are in my playlist so I thought i would share them as I believe music is yet another method for us humans to heal!
